ABOUT THE FORMULA

In this blog post I’ll be showing you a shampoo bar formula. Just like the moisturiser bar in the last post, there are many ways of making shampoo bars. I tend to make cold-processed ones, where the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate powder is not melted but the liquid/ melted ingredients bind it all together. You can, of course, melt it all if that’s easier. I would then probably increase the liquid part of the formula. But let me show you that version another time.

In this formula I used some powders with the SCI, namely Brazilian yellow clay and colloidal oat. Yellow clay is said to be wonderful against dandruff and irritated scalp and the same applies to oat.

I used green coffee oil to go with this theme and also babassu oil that research says to be superb for scalp issues due to its lauric acid content.

For scent I blended essential oils this time even though I was super tempted to use one of my natural fragrances:)

Tip: Dust the surface of the shampoo pluck with starch so it is easier to remove the bar after shaping.

All in all I think it is a lovely formula but I’ll be sure to bring you more variations in the future to show you the possibilities zero waste formulas hide.
